The chemotherapy Department was opened in 1979. About 600 scientific papers, including 10 monographs have been published. More than 20 patents for invention of new methods of anti-tumor drug therapy and correction of chemotherapy-induced complications have been obtained.
The principal fields of research are:
- development and implementation of new high-effective and low toxic chemotherapy regimens
- phase II-IV clinical trials of anti-tumor drugs
- study of mechanisms of anti-tumor chemotherapy effect on the function of various systems in the human body
- development of pathogenetically-proved methods of correction of damages induced by cytostatic agents
- study of life quality of patients receiving anti-tumor chemotherapy
